Mechanical Face Seals
Style 76.90H/ 76.97H
There are no fundamental differences between types 76.90H and 76.97H, and both are fully interchangeable. Unlike 76.90H, however, the outer profile of type 76.97H is not ground, giving it the benefit of even better torque transmission.
Design: Mechanical face seal type 76.90H/76.97H consists of two geometrically identical metallic seal rings, located against the respective housing bores by means of large-volume O-rings.
At Installation, the O-rings lodged between the tapered contact faces of the seal ring and housing undergo a defined deformation which is crucial to permanent operation of the sealing system.
76.90 or 76.97 type seals (round O-ring) range in size on the OD from 42.5mm to 1425mm. For a complete list or to check sizes available please contact us or request a catalog.
Style 76.95
This design is an addition to the standard product range. Its advantage to our customers is that it allows easier adaptation to the space requirements and manufacturing conditions which are often already firmly specified.
Type 76.95 requires slightly less installation space than the standard design 76.90H and 76.97H. Since the trapezoid elastomer parts act in a different way regarding compression set than O-rings, it is absolutely necessary to follow the clearance.
If the clearance is too small, the result can be cold welding, if the clearance is too large, the result can be leakage.
Dimensional deviations have a bad influence on the resilience reserves.
Style 76.95H
This version is a further development of the standard type 76.95. The advantage of using this sealing system, for example in construction and mining applications, is the prevention of axial displacement caused by dirt-encrusted elastomer parts. Furthermore, it prevents the meal and elastomer parts from spinning at higher break-away and friction torque.
In order to fulfill these requirements, a retaining lip is located on the back of the seal rings to support the trapezoid ring against axial displacement. Moreover, the seal rings are provided with pockets, which allow the elastomer parts to grip into the retaining lip in a positive-locking way.
All other features correspond to the seal type 76.95.
76.95 seals (square bore) range in size on the OD from 62.5mm to 800mm. For a complete list or to check sizes available please contact us or request a catalog.
Style 76.93
In about 60 years of manufacturing mechanical face seals, a number of designs have been developed for specific constructional and operational situations which can in principle be used for an extended range of applications.
In all cases the seal sets have performed outstandingly well in rough daily operating conditions.
As some of these seals are produced in fairly large volumes, we recommend consulting our team in cases where a standard size cannot be used for your application.
Adapter Rings
In some sealing applications the use of the standard design 76.90H/76.97H is more complicated because of functional, constructive or production related reasons. This is the case, for example, when the seal type 76.90H/76.97H is fitted into cylindrical bores.
The adapter ring also facilitates a quick repairing possibility, e.g. for maintenance of coal mining machines direct on-site below ground. Therefore, a laborious disassembly and delivery of the parts to the workshop for refinishing is not necessary.
In many cases, such initial problems can be solved fairly easily by using adapter rings type 76.91, which afterwards enable the standard seal to be fitted.
The adapter rings are available in two forms, A and B, consisting of deep-drawn sheet metal casings sheathed in an oil-resistant elastomer material. The rubber-like, ribbed profile of the outer surface ensures static sealing and transmission of torque and protects from corrosion.
Adapter rings range in size from 84mm to 400mm. For a complete list or to check sizes available please contact us or request a catalog.
